Altinkum |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
| |
Altinkum, which means 'golden sands' is a small holiday resort
on the agean cost. It has all the modern trappings of a summer
resort but has managed to keep it in moderation. Yes you will
find bars and discos but you can also find quiet restaurants and
lounges. It is a family orientated friendly resort.
This holiday is far less full-on than Istanbul and has beach time
scheduled in. Its a good option for you if you want to experience
the
scenery of Turkey and relax. Its the perfect choice if you are
planning this trip with a group of friends as you can unwind and
enjoy!
Beware though because most of altinkums guests return year
after year and you might get hooked...

The hotel is a 3* Hotel right on the beach. The views are
breathtaking! It is a particularly nice hotel and every room has a
balcony. The staff are friendly and are known to us personally.
The hotel provides weekly entertainment including a Turkish folk
dance show and a belly dancer.
Your accommodation is based on two people sharing a twin
room
with
en suite
bathroom. All rooms
have a phone,
television and
air
conditioning.
The breakfast and dinner is a hot
and cold buffet. Dinner provides a large selection of starters,
main courses and desserts. |

Shopping |
|
|
| |
Altinkum is full of tourist shops where you can buy hats, shoes,
clothes as well as all your tourist souvenirs. The best shopping
is to be done in Izmir where you will find really nice malls and
shops that are much cheaper than the tourist shops.
A short ride on a dolmus will take you to the Designer
outlet
outside Altinkum. That is where the real bargains are to be found,
it is worth the trip.
For something a little more traditional try the Saturday market in
Altinkum. It sells everything; clothes, food, shoes. See how the
locals shop, Its a hustly bustly
experience. The unusual fresh fruit
and veg is wonderful to see
and you can buy some real
Turkish delight.

Wining and Dining |

Altinkum has lots of good restaurants. They serve a wide
selection of food to suit every taste. You can eat very cheaply or
splash out on a 3 course meal. If you want to try some real
Turkish food then just 5 mins away from the beach front you can
find restaurants that provide local food for the local people.
There are lots of bars and a few discos in altinkum. You are
bound to find your favorite. Most of them work so hard to provide
entertainment and make you stay enjoyable. It is worth pointing
out that Turkey has a reputation for very cheap drinks, but in
recent years this is not the case. Drinks are around the same
price as in the UK.

Sightseeing |
|
|
| |
The Temple of Apollo is in Altinkum, it has a fascinating history and
legend says it is where medusa is buried. Ephesus is
home to one of the 7 wonders of the world, the Temple of
Artemis. It is also the resting place of the Virgin Mary.
Izmir is the third biggest city in Turkey it is beautiful and busy.
You
travel by ferry boat, not bus in Izmir and every street holds
new
sights and smells. On the way to our costumier we walk
through
the tiny winding streets of the market area, be prepared
for an
adventure! |
